Asta Nielsen — the person behind our name

Asta Nielsen, our founder’s mother, taught in Denmark for nearly two decades. A trained furrier, she was deeply creative and spiritual, and always looked for the best in other people.
She left behind three children and a family spanning several generations across Denmark. Her warmth, creativity and belief in others are the inspiration behind our name.
Our difference is in the next step
We build around the moment a child says, “I don’t understand.” Smaller steps, prepared alternative explanations and practice with feedback give families something useful to try next. Flexible pacing makes room to revisit, practical activities bring learning off the screen and parent guidance helps make progress visible.
The child comes first
When a child feels stuck, they need a useful next step. Asta brings together teaching, worked examples, diagrams and practice so they can approach an idea in more than one way.
Structure with room for independence
England’s National Curriculum provides the planning reference. Hands-on activities and independent exploration complement the sequence. We describe this as Montessori-inspired; Asta is not claiming Montessori accreditation or replacing a complete Montessori classroom.
Built with the family in view
Parents can see what a child is learning and where help is needed. Saved work, marking guides and separate learner spaces make it easier to support each child. Try the learning together with a free account.
What we can show you today
Explore real Month 1 topics for Years 1–9. We have not published independently verified exam results, school accreditation or parent testimonials. As the programme develops, evidence and confirmed service details should grow with it.
