What is available in Month 1

Year 1 has 92 sessions in 12 subject areas. Each week includes Mathematics and English, Science and History, plus eight wider subjects. Written teaching, examples, practice and parent marking guidance support the sequence. Additional help audio covers these core lessons; video coverage varies.

Practical skills for life

Choose optional subjects for your child’s weekly plan. Each course has teaching, worked examples, practice and parent review. Read together, discuss the example or try the idea on paper.

Audio and helper videos

Prepared narration is available. Video introductions are available for selected lessons; coverage is not complete.

Try a real first-session activity

Make a group of two blocks and a group of five blocks. Count each group. Grown-up: record what the child said or did and any help given.

Open a free learner profile to see this activity with its teaching explanation, worked example and related questions.

The parent’s part

Stay with your child. Read instructions, help choose safe materials, listen to spoken answers and type the child’s own response where needed. Split activities into short pieces with stories, movement and play. Let your child attempt reading-practice words before using narration.

Curriculum and next steps

England’s National Curriculum provides the Key Stage 1 reference. Choose a starting point with stories, number, conversation and practical discovery, supported by a grown-up.

Extra help when an idea needs another explanation

Additional help audio is available for all 828 core lessons across Years 1–9 in the current lesson library: an explanation, a hint and a separate worked example for each lesson. These 2,484 clips offer extra support rather than simply reading the lesson aloud. This coverage does not include optional courses; videos are available only for selected lessons.
