Learning, joining and practical details
Questions parents ask
Can I choose my child’s subjects?
Yes. Open Choose subjects & weekly plan for your learner, tick the subjects you want and save. Their lessons and week update together; earlier work is kept. Optional beginner Chess is available alongside the 12 main subject areas.
What happens when my child does not understand?
Try a smaller step, a hint, another explanation or a similar worked example, then practise again. Parents use saved answers and marking guidance to decide what to revisit. The aim is understanding, not just a completed lesson.
Can we try one week free?
Yes. Try Week 1 with your child, including teaching, practice and saved work. No card is required and there is no automatic payment.
What is Asta Online School?
Asta offers self-paced learning for Years 1–9, with clear explanations, worked examples, practical activities and parent support. England’s National Curriculum is a planning reference.
Which ages and year groups can use it?
Years 1–9 are available, typically covering ages 5–14. Age is a guide; compare the actual lessons with prior learning. Years 10 and above are not currently available.
Can we start free?
Yes. No card is required and no automatic paid subscription begins. Parents can create an account and explore Month 1.
Are there live classes or teachers on call?
Learning is self-paced, with prepared teaching, examples and activities. Parents review written work using the supplied guidance.
How does family pricing work?
School pricing is $139 per school month for the first child, $104 for the second and $69 for each additional child. Annual pricing equals eight monthly payments for ten school months. Start with a free account; no card or automatic payment is involved.
How do we choose where to start?
Start with the lessons in your child’s selected subjects. My week organises them into manageable steps, and saved work helps you decide when to revisit an idea or move on.
Can we start at 8:30am in our time zone?
Yes. Parents can save a time zone, first Monday and daily start in My week. The older-year example runs from 8:30am to 2pm. Years 1–2 start with 15-minute blocks and Years 3–4 with 20-minute blocks, with movement breaks. The four available weeks connect to actual lessons; families can move unfinished lessons and review understanding separately from completion.
Who marks answers?
Practice choices receive automatic feedback. Parents review written submissions with the supplied marking guidance. Completion ticks are not grades.
Will this guarantee my child passes tests?
No. The current checks are internal learning activities. External test preparation needs a named syllabus, reviewed coverage and appropriate exam arrangements. Asta does not offer a pass guarantee.
Is Asta accredited or recognised as a school?
Asta does not claim accreditation or award external qualifications. Parents should check local schooling requirements when deciding how to use the learning programme.
Can my child listen to the lessons?
Use narration wherever a playback button appears. It is prepared from Asta’s authored teaching text; playing it does not send learner answers or account information to OpenAI.
Do children have to stay at a screen all day?
No. Lessons include reading, paper tasks and practical activities. Families should plan movement, lunch and offline time. Optional brief games are only one kind of break.
Do you offer specialist SEND support?
Families can use printable work, prepared explanations and adjustable presentation choices. Discuss specialist needs with a qualified professional who knows your child.
Can I download or delete family data?
Yes. The parent account area provides data export and account deletion. The privacy notice explains application records, hosting logs and provider-held backups.
