More routes, without putting children in boxes

A child may need a drawing for one idea, a worked example for another and a practical activity for the next. There is no need to assign them a fixed learning style. Try the available resources, notice what helps with this task and leave room for a different approach tomorrow.

Read and listen together

Prepared narration reads the authored teaching material in an AI-generated voice. Children can pause or replay and keep the written text visible. Year 1 phonics and reading practice need adult judgement: let the child try target words before playing narration where appropriate.

Help that stays close to the question

“Show me another way” opens a prepared alternative explanation. Hints and similar worked examples can help a child find the next step. Encourage an independent attempt after using support, and record help when reviewing work.

A quieter learning experience

Celebration sound can stay off; animation is optional. Pages include visible keyboard focus, text labels and printable activities. Icons and colours help navigation but are not the only way subjects are identified. We have not completed a formal accessibility audit or certified specialist SEND provision.

Make a practical adjustment

  • Read the instruction aloud while the child points or draws.
  • Split a multi-part task into one question at a time.
  • Use paper or everyday objects to explain the same idea.
  • Let a grown-up type the child’s own spoken answer and note the assistance.

When these tools are not enough

Audio and video by year

Use a spoken explanation or video wherever a playback button is shown. Written explanations, examples and practice let your child revisit an idea at their own pace.

Extra help when an idea needs another explanation

Additional help audio is available for all 828 core lessons across Years 1–9 in the current lesson library: an explanation, a hint and a separate worked example for each lesson. These 2,484 clips offer extra support rather than simply reading the lesson aloud. This coverage does not include optional courses; videos are available only for selected lessons.
